Notes of now: Emerging Spring

Click here to listen to the playlist on Spotify!
A mix of soulful oldies, predictable calm alternative, and hopefully some newbies- these are tunes that shut the cold out.
The mood of this playlist:

Pattering rain drops and a boiling tea kettle

The cracks of early morning sunlight peaking through blinds

Opening your door to a cold brisk morning that holds the promise of a warm sunny afternoon to come

Starting a long drive with cold leather seats that ends up with all the windows down, sunglasses on and arms out in the wind

Disclaimer: this particular playlist is very eclectic and doesn't make much sense from a cohesion point of view- but neither does this time of year. This weird in-between season is the personification of the worst kind of person- an unreliable tease. We get a week of bright sunshine that makes coats collect dust but the following week cold rain hits with a vengeance (#subtweet at Eugene).

A few highlights:
  • Amazing Grace, Sufjan Stevens: all the folky chills
  • Ophelia, The Lumineers: new release from the band that is moody, but catchy
  • Berlin, RY X: You want sleep? You got it.
  • In Your Atmosphere, John Mayer: 5 mins and 46 seconds of pure reminiscing and feeling sentimental
With love and tunes,
Sarah Belle

'From head to toe'- Spring forward

Anthropologie 'Tie-Front Turtleneck': different color here $69.95
Free People 'Hold My Hand Cord Skirt' in Rasberry $78
Paul Green 'Romeo Biker' Boots: similar here
JCrew Art Deco earrings: similar(ish) here $12

This time of year is such a tease. One day we're blessed by bright sunshine and cloudless skies, the next we're trapped indoors by angry rain (#subtweet at Eugene). This makes getting ready in the morning somewhat of a challenge, but layered outfits like this sweater and skirt combo work for just about anything. I love the style and texture of this look- the corduroy skirt contrasted with the soft knit pattern of the sweater are comfortable and timeless. The mini skirt's style and rich raspberry color gives a subtle nod to the 70's without trying too hard, and I have been pairing this sweater with different things all week and no one is any the wiser because it's just that versatile. Huge shoutout to my Paul Green boots for being the most comfortable and durable shoes I own, such a great investment that will never go out of style.

Thank you to Sophie for being my photographer and bodyguard when an annoying Mom tried to kick us out of a prime shooting location <3

With love and blooms,
Sarah Belle
